![]() Sliabh Notes, the traditional group from the south-west of Ireland, features Dónal Murphy from Abbeyfeale, Matt Cranitch from Cork, and Tommy O'Sullivan from Dingle. Since the group was formed about 1995, they have released three albums, and have established an enviable reputation for their high-quality traditional music. Sliabh Notes sound is centered around the box and fiddle combination of Donal Murphy and Matt Cranitch. Donal, of the famed Murphy family from West Limerick, first came to the public eye as an original member of Four Men & A Dog, recording on their ground breaking debut album of 1991, Barking Mad. Noted for his rhythmic, driving style, his is regarded as one of the finest exponents of Irish accordion playing. Matt Cranitch has long been a highly regarded fiddle player, particularly in the Sliabh Luachra style. Matt is an authority on Sliabh Luachra music having researched and promoted this most unique style of music for many years. Together, Matt and Donal are a seamless combination and have been decribed as one of the finest and most electrifying Sliabh Luachra-style box and fiddle duos you could wish to hear. Singer and guitarist Tommy OSullivan completes the line-up. Hailed as one of the finest accompanists in the country, Tommy is also a renowned singer. |
